A student at Bulloch Academy was honored Tuesday as the 2013 Bulloch County STAR Student. Asa Johnson was honored at the STAR Student and Teacher Recognition Banquet at the Quality Inn and Suites for having the county’s highest SAT score in the county.
Jillian Perry, an English and history teacher at Bulloch Academy, was also honored for being chosen as Johnson’s
STAR Teacher.
Johnson thanked his family, teachers and friends for supporting him and said it was an honor to represent Bulloch Academy. He said he plans to attend Georgia Tech but has yet to decide on a major.
Perry said Asa is a wonderful student and she has enjoyed “watching him grow as a learner and thinker.”
Other STAR students in who were honored at the banquet sponsored by the Education Committee for the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce were: Sherwin Davoud and teacher Kathy Tucker at Statesboro High; Ryan Rogers and his teacher Dennis Moore at Portal High; Southeast Bulloch’s Emiry Blitch and teacher Susan Boddiford and; Charity Bray and teacher Shannon Coffey from Trinity Christian Academy.
