East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro will host today’s drive from 12:30 till 5:30 p.m. in the Mims Monroe Blood Services Center, Suite 307, on the third floor in the Doctors’ Office Building, adjacent to the hospital.
The Red Cross is asking all eligible donors to stop by today’s drive. Blood collections are still down from the amount needed to assure there will be sufficient blood available when needed.
Adding to the existing shortage, blood donations often decline during the summer months, particularly around summer holidays. The American Red Cross is urging everyone to make a effort to donate before the Labor Day holiday, Monday September 1. Labor Day is the traditional end of summer vacation season.
All types of blood are needed but there is a special need for donors with type O-Negative, B-Negative and A Negative blood.
After today, there will be just blood drives left in August…Thursday and Friday, August 21 and 22 and Wednesday, August 27.
