Slight increase in property taxes ahead

  According to a published public notice the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners have tentatively adopted the Ad Valorem millage rate which will require an increase in property taxex by 1.03%


  This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 10.44, an increase of 0.106 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 10.334 mills.


  The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $125,000 is approximately $5.22, and the proposed tax increase for a non-homestead property with a fair market value of $125,000 is approximately $5.30


  All concerned citizens are invited to a public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Bulloch County North Main Annex, 115 North Main Street, Statesboro, on August 12 at 12:00 PM.  A second hearing is set for 6 p.m., also on the 12. 


  The final hearing will be August 19 at 8:30 a.m.  That will also be at the Bulloch County North Main Annex, 115 North Main Street, Statesboro.
