F1rst Friday in downtown Statesboro Friday night will be one big pep rally to mark the beginning of the 2014-15 school year in Bulloch County.  Sponsored by the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority, all the activity will take place on the courthouse lawn from 5:30 till 8 p.m.  Cheerleaders, band members, football players and coaches from Bulloch Academy, Southeast Bulloch, Portal and Statesboro high schools will lead the crowd.

Sports broadcaster Tommy Palmer, host for the pep rally, said the annual event is a great opportunity for everyone in Bulloch County to cheer on the local football teams as they get ready for another campaign of high school football.

At 7:30 Friday night the public is invited to go to the Emma Kelly Theater to take in a live production of the musical “Oliver!”  Artists whose work is on display in the Averitt Center’s in the mail gallery will create wooden tops for children in the program “Turned, Segmented and Embellished: The Fine Art ofWoodturning.”

Another popular event will be a tour of and tasting at the Eagle Creek Brewing Company from 6 till 8 p.m. Friday.
