A Statesboro man is in jail after threatening the life of a woman he had knocked to the ground.

About 6:30 Sunday afternoon Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies went to a residence in the 8,000 block of Burkhalter Road in response to a report of a domestic dispute.  The sheriff department's report said upon arrival Deputy 1st Class William Sims saw a man, later identified as 32 year old Larry Clark of Brad Lane in Statesboro, holding a woman down in the yard preparing to strike her.  Deputy Sims took Clark into custody and during a search of his person found a pistol in his pants pocket.

The woman told Sims Clark had struck and choked her before pressing the pistol to her stomach and telling her he “was about to end this.”  She said this happened in front of the her eight year old daughter.

Clark was transported to the Bulloch County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault (family violence), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Cruelty to Children in the 3rd degree, Battery (family violence), Obstructing a 911 call, Reckless Conduct, and Pointing a Firearm at Another.

What started out as a verbal altercation could have turned deadly when one of the persons involved got a knife and attacked another.

According to a report from the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department, about 10 o'clock Sunday night deputies went to a residence in the 2,000 block of Old Register Road in response to a domestic dispute.  Witnesses told Sgt.
