Written by  Friday, 04 July 2014 09:41

Thousands of people will head to Mill Creek Regional Park today to celebrate the 4th of July holiday at the 2014 Firecracker Fest.  The Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department annual celebration will feature live music, games, contests and other activities for the entire family leading up to the annual fireworks display about 9 p.m.  Those who want to take in the fireworks are urged to get to the park early to get a good vantage point.  About 8:45 Georgia Highway 24 in front of the park will be closed to traffic.

Although coolers will be allowed, no tobacco, pets or grills will be allowed at the park.  Tents may be set up on a first-come, first-served basis in designated areas, they must be taken down by 7:30 p.m.

Firecracker Fest 2014 is sponsored by the Sea Island Bank.  Briggs & Stratton is the sponsor for the fireworks display.
