Search warrant results in two arrests, drugs

Written by  Thursday, 03 July 2014 11:20

Last Thursday investigators with the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team served a search warrant at an apartment in 111 South Apartments on Rucker Lane in Statesboro.  The report from the Sheriff’s Department said the search warrant was based on complaints of drug transactions from that apartment.  Investigators seized marijuana and various controlled prescription drugs.  An AR-15 style rifle was also recovered from the apartment.  One of the residents, 22 year old Brian Holmes, was arrested at the scene.

A second resident, 24 year old Eric Ferguson whose address was listed as Maple St, later turned himself in to the Bulloch County Jail.

Ferguson is a forward and former All-Southern Conference basketball player at Georgia Southern.  He was considered to be key for the Eagles’ first season in the Sun Belt Conference in 2014-15.

Holmes is a recent graduate and former team mate of Fersugon.

Both Holmes and Ferguson were charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Schedule II drug, Possession of a Schedule III drug, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, and Possession/Use of a Drug Related Object.
