Barrow Announces Special Veterans’ Office Hours

12th District Congressman John Barrow 12th District Congressman John Barrow   Georgia's 12 District U.S. Congressman John Barrow has announced special veterans’office hours throughout the district during this week’s Congressional District Work Period.


  Congressman Barrow’s office will intervene on veterans' behalf they are having problems connecting with the Department of Veterans Affairs or getting their benefits.


  Barrow said it's a disgrace that the VA has neglected so many veterans. He said while working to rebuild the VA, issues facing veterans need to be addressed.  Sometimes a quick conversation can help resolve a veteran's problem, and sometimes more work is needed.  Barrow said these special offices hours mean veterans will have access to their Congressman, the VA, and other organizations that can help.


  Barrow will be Statesboro today from 9 a.m. till 12:30 p.m.  He invites veterans from Bulloch, Evans, Screven and Effingham Counties to meet with him at Georgia Southern University's City Campus at 58 East Main Street. 


  Officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Georgia Department of Veterans Services, and several veterans’ service organizations (VSO’s) will be present to help veterans with claims.


  Later today Barrow's special veterans office hours designed for Burke, Jenkins and Emanuel counties will be from 2 till 5 p.m. at the Burke County Library, 130 Highway 24 South, Waynesboro.
