F1rst Friday - Staycation

Written by  Friday, 06 June 2014 09:33

You work fifty weeks out of the year looking forward to those two weeks in the summer to head out of town on vacation.  Considering the prices of gasoline, though, that may just be a pipe dream or a fond memory.

The Downtown  Statesboro Development Authority has a solution to those vacation blues...take that vacation but stay at home.  It will cost a whole lot less.

Friday night F1rst Friday downtown will present a whole list of activities close to home they call Statesboro Staycation.  From 5:30 till 8 p.m. you will find out about all the local attractions to help you have a fun and memorable vacation in the comfort of your hometown.

Events for the entire family include vendors from the Clubhouse, Splash in the 'Boro, Pladd Dot Music, Eagle Creek Brewery and more show what they have to offer.  There will be games, free popsicles and pictures with Elsa from "Frozen" for the children.

Race fans can learn about the Coca-Cola 125 Raceway at The Clubhouse.  They have 28 electric go-carts you can race around the track.

Downtown businesses will remain open for extended hours Friday to shop or eat dinner while you take in Statesboro Staycation, F1rst Friday.

This year F1rst Friday is extended into Saturday morning with the Mainstreet Farmers Market in the Charlie Olliff Square at Sea Island Bank and tours of Eagle Creek Brewery.
