Crime Free Housing is an international crime prevention program started in 1992 in Mesa, Arizona. The goal is to improve the quality of life for residents and reduce police calls for service by setting strict applicant screening standards, basic crime prevention property improvements, resident awareness, and strong discouragement of criminal activity by tenants or their guests.
The managers training will cover all aspects of the Crime Free Housing program as well as Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and general apartment community crime reduction.
The class is for apartment community managers and owners. To sign up for the class email Corporal Justin Samples at the Statesboro Police Department with your name, the apartment community you are affiliated with, and your contact information. There is no fee to attend the class or to participate in the Crime Free Housing program.
Georgia Southern University is an active participant and supporter of Crime Free Housing. With the growth of the University and the City, GSU and Statesboro are working together to reduce crime incidents on and off campus. During student orientation, students and parents will be educated on the Crime Free Housing program and given resources to locate apartment communities that participate in the program.
