Voters went to the polls in Tuesday's General Primary and elected two members to the Bulloch County Board of Education, kept two commissioners and decided on a new Clerk of Court.
The two new BOE members are Glennera Martin who defeated incumbent Vernon Littles 197 to 183 votes to win Seat 5. Jimmy Cook, Jr., was also successful in his bid to unseat incumbent Anshul Jain 407 to 374 votes to take Seat 6.
Heather B. McNeal easily beat Alvie Coes, III, to take over the Clerk of Court seat. McNeal won in all but one precinct, Statesboro, for a 2 to 1 margin victory...4,130 votes to 2,000. McNeal will serve out the unexpired term of Teresa Tucker who resigned last year after pleading guilty to violation of oath of office.
The incumbents will return to two seats on the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners. Anthony Simmons won over challenger Jacquavias Roberson for another term on Commission Seat 1B with 63% of the vote. W. Robert Rushing returns to his Commission 2D seat wining 66% of the vote to defeat Jim Benton.
