Brooklet mayor and city council meet tonight

Written by  Thursday, 15 May 2014 09:40

Bulloch County, Brooklet, Portal and Register adopted a joint comprehensive plan five years ago.  The state requires communities to evaluate and report on accomplishments from their comprehensive plan every five years.  This update to the plan will ensure those bodies continue to maintain their status as qualified local government and therefore remain eligible for state grants.  After the presentation the Brooklet City Council is expected to vote on the plan.

In Unfinished Business tabled from the April meeting, the council will discuss and possibly take action on funding or bids for remodeling of the police department building, internal and external repairs and remodeling.

In new business the mayor and council discuss and possibly take action on two items…emergency text messages for city residents and incentive for electronic distribution of newsletters.

The council will close the regular meeting in order to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters before reopening the regular session to adjourn.

The meeting gets underway at 7 p.m. tonight at the Brooklet City Hall on Church Street.  The public is invited to attend and participate.
