Blood drive today

Written by  Thursday, 15 May 2014 09:34

The Bulloch County chapter of the American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive today.  Today’s drive will be hosted by East Georgia Regional Medical Center, in the adjacent Doctors’ Office Building, in the Mims Monroe Blood Services Center, Suite 307 on the third floor.  Hours are from 12:30 till 5:30 p.m.

All eligible donors are urged to attend and donate a unit of blood.  With the summer vacation season approaching more people will be on the roads traveling to various locations to enjoy some downtime.  Unfortunately, vacation driving and upcoming holidays usually means an increased number of traffic accidents.  That also puts an even greater demand on the blood supplies in the area.  With a shortage already on the books that will result in a greater strain on the ability to provide precious life saving blood and blood products.

All types of blood are needed but there is a special need for O Negative, O Positive, A Negative and B Negative blood types.  These are the most in demand.

The Red Cross urges potential donors to drop by and donate blood today.  If your schedule is pretty tight, you can make an appointment to fit into your schedule.  To make an appointment by phone, call: 1-800-733-2767 (1-800-Red Cross).  To make an appointment online, go to / Click on Make a Blood Donation Appointment.

If afterwards you find out there is a conflict and you will not be able to keep you appointment call the Red Cross to reschedule for cancel so someone else can take your place.
