Statesboro Police Officer Arrested for Public Indecency

Matthew McMurrayMatthew McMurray  A 27 year old Statesboro Police officer is in jail charged with public indecency.  According to a Police Department news release the incident happened Wednesday morning in the parking lot of Statesboro Crossing shopping center.


  In he report, Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said shortly before 10 a.m. yesterday Statesboro Police officers responded to a call about a white male in a vehicle exposing himself.  Officers arrived on scene, located and arrested the man identified as Matthew McMurray of Sarah Sorrell Road.  McMurray was off duty at the time of the incident.


  Turner said upon arrest McMurray was immediately terminated from the police force.  He was transported to the Bulloch County jail where he awaits further court action.
