This week, May 4 through 10 is Goodwill Industries Week. The purpose is to celebrate and recognize Goodwill Industries’ job training, career and other community-based services that help people find jobs, earn salaries, and strengthen their families and communities. Helping people with disabilities, lack education or job experience or with difficulties finding work is the mission of Goodwill.
As part of the week, Goodwill of the Coastal Empire has scheduled ten public job fairs around the area. One of those will be in Statesboro. Each of the job fairs will begin at 10 a.m.. during which the public will learn about Goodwill training resources and job opportunities.
Employers from the hospitality, retail, aerospace and manufacturing industries will tell attendees about themselves and employment opportunities.
Brenda Pollen, Vice President of Mission Services, said “Goodwill Job Connection Centers provide resources, technology and support services designed to help job seekers secure and maintain employment.”
In 2013, Goodwill served 19,518 and placed 1,672 in employment throughout the region. The first of the job fairs will Tuesday, May 6, in Jesup. The Statesboro Goodwill Job Fair will be Thursday, May 8th, at 24015 Highway 80 East.
