SHS coaches arrested for sexual misconduct

  Inappropriate relationships with students has resulted in the arrest of one Statesboro High School assistant coach and the issuance of warrants for another.

  Wendell Turner, Public Safety Director for Statesboro, said in a news release the investigation began Friday, April 25, when a parent notified the Statesboro Police Department that, beginning last November, Statesboro High School Assistant Coach Luke Edward Parks began a relationship of a questionable nature with a 16-year-old female student at the high school.  The extent of the relationship is still under investigation.  Parks had resigned from his position at Statesboro High School prior to the incident being reported to police.  The Statesboro Police Department has taken a warrant for the arrest of Parks.

 

 

  This past Monday, April 28, the Statesboro Police Department received Luke Edward ParksLuke Edward Parksinformation that Statesboro High School Assistant Coach Jeffery Tyler Crowder had engaged in sexual contact with a 16-year-old female student.  Investigation into the allegation resulted in Tyler being arrested on school grounds Wednesday and charged with sexual assault.

 

 

  Turner said both cases are still under investigation and more charges and arrests are expected.   Each case has a separate victim and the cases are not being investigated as related. No further information is being released at this time.
