Final April blood drive Wednesday

Written by  Tuesday, 29 April 2014 09:37

One final blood drive for the Bulloch County chapter of the American Red Cross is left on the schedule for April.

Georgia Southern University will sponsor that drive this Wednesday, April 30, in the F. D. Russell Union on the second floor in room 2047.  Hours for the drive Wednesday are 11 a.m. till 4 p.m.

Eligible donors are urged to make an effort to donate a unit of blood at the drive.  There is a continuing shortage of blood which was made worse over the just past winter that saw unusually severe conditions that forced the cancellation of hundreds of blood drives around the state and the southeast which resulted in the loss of several tens of thousands of units of blood.

All types of blood are needed but there is a special need for O-positive, O-negative, A- negative and B-negative.  These are the most in demand blood types.

For those who would like to give blood but has constraints on time, you can make an appointment for a specific time in order to donate blood at time convenient for you.

To make an appointment by phone, call: 1-800-733-2767 (1-800-Red Cross).  To make an appointment online, go to www.redcrossblood.org / Click on Make a Blood Donation Appointment.
