East Georgia to Host Active Shooter Drill

Written by  Thursday, 03 April 2014 14:25

The tragedy at Fort Hood yesterday is a harrowing reminder of the benefit of preparation for situations where there is danger of gunfire in public areas. East Georgia State College will be holding a drill to assist students and faculty in preparation for situations such as these. An “Active Shooter” drill will be held on April 4th at the Swainsboro campus.  The drill is expected to include several local and regional law enforcement agencies as well as the Campus Police Department.

“Although we hope it will never happen, we need to be prepared for a situation where there may be an armed intruder on site. The Public Safety website also has other related information in the Emergency Response section.” said campus police.

They will also be selecting individuals to take part in the drill as role play participants.

For any questions, concerns or comments, contact Chief Drew G. Durden of campus police at 478-289-2119.
