Alvie Coes III and Heather Banks McNeal are both seeking the position formerly held by Teresa Tucker who resigned last year.
Coes is a faculty and event services coordinator at Georgia Southern University.
McNeal was a deputy clerk in the Bulloch County Superior and State Courts from 1997 till 1999 and in 2003, worked in the office of the State Court solicitor and the court’s administrator. For four years, from 2007-2011, she was human resources director for the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners.
The winner will be sworn in immediately after the Primary.
Anthony Simmons will be challenged by Jacquavias “Jac” Roberson for county commission seat 1-B. Seat 2-B commissioner Robert Rushing is being challenged by Jim Anderson Benton.
Jimmy T. “Jay” Cook, Jr., qualified to run for the Board of Education District 6 seat held by Anshul Jain. Glennara Martin qualified to challenge Vernon Littles for the District 5 seat. The winners in those races will be sworn in next January.
Mike Sparks and Steve Hein have no opposition for their seats on the Board of Education.
