Deputy suffers minor injury in fight with wanted person

 Kenneth Steven ChapmanKenneth Steven Chapman According to information from the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Department about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Deputy 1st Class Randall Norman stopped a vehicle on Kyle Sorrell Rd at Newton’s Mobile Home Park for a minor traffic offense.   The report said the driver, later identified as Kenneth Steven Chapman, gave Deputy Norman a false name.  After obtaining his real name it was discovered that Chapman was wanted in Effingham County.  When Deputy Morgan attempted to take him into custody, Chapman allegedly resisted and struggled with Norman until other deputies who had been summoned by a call for help.  Chapman was taken into custody and placed in the Bulloch County Jail.  Deputy Norman suffered a minor knee injury during the altercation.


  Chapman is charged with one count each of Felony Obstruction of an Officer, Misdemeanor Obstruction, Simple Battery on an Officer, Giving False Identification, Disorderly Conduct, Battery, Seatbelt violation, and an outstanding Effingham County warrant.   He is being held without bond.
