The Bulloch County chapter of the American Red Cross has 9 blood drives scheduled for the month of March. Three of those drives are this week.
The first is today in the Mims Monroe Blood Services Center, Suite 307 on the third floor in the Doctor's Office Building adjacent to East Georgia Regional Medical Center on Fair Road. Hours are from 12:30 till 5:30 p.m.
This Wednesday Georgia Southern University will host a drive from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. in the Williams Center Multi-Purpose Room.
The Portal High School Junior ROTC will host this week's third drive Thursday in the JROTC Classroom A-5 from 8:30 a.m. till 1:30 p.m.
Potential donors are urged to make a special effort to attend one of these drives this week or any other one in the future. The need is great. The sever winter weather in February forced the cancellations of hundreds of blood drives across the state. The resulted in the loss of many thousands of units of blood and platelets.
All types of blood are needed but there is a special need for O-positive and negative, A-negative and B-negative. These are the most in demand blood types.
