Georgia Southern Fullback Dominique Swope was arrested after an altercation at the Cambridge at Southern Apartment Complex on Lanier Drive. Last night at approximately 11:00pm Dominique Shawn Swope turned himself in at the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office after a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Statesboro Police Department.

According to the press release, Swope was involved in an altercation that resulted in the victim, Cameron Zaquan Lewis, receiving a serious head trauma on February 9th.

Statesboro Police Officers responded to East Georgia Regional Medical Center in reference to Lewis being brought to the hospital by friends.  The case was turned over to Detective Sergeant James Winskey who, through further investigation, identified Swope as the offender.  Swope is charged with Aggravated Battery and the investigation is ongoing. GSU head coach, Willie Fritz, spoke to authorities and made the decision to remove Swope from the team and will consider reinstatement of Swope after the legal process has taken place.
