In a news release Wendell Turner, Director of Statesboro Public Safety, said Dennis Weaver of Twin City has been charged with aggravated assault against Lashika Weaver and murder in the death of Marion Lamonte Wiggs. Turner said Weaver used a knife to attack both people about 9:30 a.m. at a residence on Hart Lane. Both were taken to East Georgia Regional Medical Center where Wiggs was pronounced dead at 10:02 a.m. Bulloch County Coroner Jack Futch said Wiggs had been stabbed multiple times. His body is to be taken for an autopsy at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Atlanta crime lab.
Mrs. Weaver was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah where, at last report, she is in critical condition. The families of both victims have been notified.
When Statesboro Police officers arrived at the scene they located Dennis Weaver and placed him under arrest.
No other information has been released at this time. Turner said this is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as it comes in.
