This is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Georgia. Each day this week through Friday people in Bulloch County will have an opportunity to learn what to do if severe weather threatens.
Each day this week will focus on different aspects of being prepared in case of severe weather.
The weather did cause a postponement of the annual Statewide Tornado Drill which was scheduled for 9 a.m. today (Wednesday). Ted Wynn, Director of Bulloch County,Safety/Emergency Management Agency, said the postponement was due to the threat of severe weather in parts of Georgia today. It has been rescheduled for Friday, February 7 at 9 a.m. All Schools in the county will practice their procedures for a tornado.
Thursday is Lightning Safety Day. The week’s activities will conclude Friday with Flood Safety Day.
Wynn said “The little things you do to prepare on the front end for severe weather can make a big difference in how quickly you recover and get back to normal, after severe weather strikes.”
The Bulloch EMA is posting information on their Facebook page centered around this week.
