Morris Street Assault and Arrest

Charles Clifton Charles Clifton   According to a report from the Statesboro Police Department, 50 year old Charles Clifton was arrested February 1 for the forced entry into a residence on Morris Street.   Police say he was armed with a knife when the confronted the resident, a 61 year of woman, and assaulted her, during which she received a minor injury to her finger.  Clifton allegedly took several items from the residence and then fled the area. 


  The victim ran to a neighbor’s home and contacted the police.  Officers arrived and secured the scene.  Statesboro Officer Casey Tomlinson located Clifton hiding behind a residence on Roundtree Street.  Officer Tomlinson arrested Clifton who is now being held at the Bulloch County Jail awaiting further court action.  He is being charged by Statesboro Police Department with multiple crimes in Statesboro as well as being a wanted person out of Atlanta for failure to report as a sex offender.


  Local charges include one count each of Armed Robbery, Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, Sexual Battery and Wanted Person.
