Update: Local Schools and Colleges Closing for Weather

 Bulloch County Schools will be closing due to recent weather reports of the pending winter ice storm scheduled to hit the area on Tuesday evening. This decision was made by the school system after conferring with the Bulloch County Emergency Management Agency according to a statement, which they issued via their Facebook page.

"After conferring with the Bulloch County Emergency Management Agency about the winter weather affecting our area over the next 72 hours, Bulloch County Schools’ Superintendent Charles Wilson has made the decision to close school Tuesday and Wednesday for employees and students," said Bulloch Schools, "All extracurricular activities, sports and aftercare services for employees and students will be cancelled for these days as well." 

They also reported that a decision about Thursday is pending until administrators know more about local conditions. Wilson is scheduled to make a decision about Thursday by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jenkins County Schools will dismiss school at 12:00pm on Tuesday. Afterwards, schools will close until Friday.

For the local colleges, Georgia Southern Schools will be closing beginning at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and all day on Wednesday, Jan. 29. After noon on Tuesday, Dining Commons will be the only on campus location for meals. The decision regarding campus operations on Thursday will be announced after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. 

Ogeechee Technical College's campus will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Administrative offices will reopen on Thursday and noon.

East Georgia College will close at noon on Tuesday and all day on Wednesday. Administrators will decide on whether to reopen schools by 3pm on Wednesday.
