At their meeting Tuesday the Bulloch County Board of commissioners set qualifying fees for several local races. Three Board of Commissioners seats are up for election as well as four on the Board of Education.
May 20 will also be the date for a special nonpartisan special election to choose someone to fill out the term through 2016 of Clerk of Court for Bulloch County. The office is being held by interim clerk Charles Sikes appointed after Teresa Tucker resigned last year after pleading guilty to two felony counts of violation of public office.
Up for election locally are commission seats District 1-B held by Anthony Simmons, Walter Gibson’s District 2-B seat and District 2-D held by Robert Rushing. Voters will also vote on Board of Education seats District held by Mike Sparks; District 4 – Steve Heih; District 5 – Vernon Little; and District 6 – Anshul Jain.
Qualifying fees are: county commission - $225; Board of Education - $72; and Clerk of Superior Court - $1,894.94.
Candidates for the May 20 primary may qualify between March 3 and 7. Voter registration deadline is April 21.
