There is an urgent need for blood platelets and O, A negative, and B negative blood types. The American Red Cross provides about 40% of the nation's blood. Because of the snow and severe cold this winter, the number of donations is down by 8200. And with another storm system affecting much of the country that number is expected to increase.
There are three important blood drives left in Bulloch County this month…one at S E Bulloch High today (Wednesday, January 22) and two at EGRMC Blood Center on the Thursdays, the 23rd and 30th.
Today’s blood drive at Southeast Bulloch High School will be in the ROTC Classroom from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. You are urged to donate a unit blood at one of these drives this month or in the future.
If you would like to donate blood at a drive but time is limited you can make an appointment to get in and out quickly. To make an appointment by phone, call: 1-800-733-2767 (1-800-Red Cross). To make an appointment online, go to www.redcrossblood.org and click on Make a Blood Donation Appointment.
