Plans to construct the expansion of the North Main Street County Annex will continue but the project is about $300,000 over budget and cuts are needed.
John Lavendar of Lavendar & Associates Construction Company told a called meeting of the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners said the plans as they now are will cost nearly $2,547,000 million.
Funds totaling $2.2 million dollars have been set aside from Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax to finance the proposed 13,437 square feet building. Lavendar told the commissioners to meet the budget the size may have to be reduceed and other concessions will need to bemade.
County Manager Tom Couch said with the improving economy additional money may be found to make up the difference.
The structure will be adjacent to the North Main Annex and will house the tax commissioners and assessors and the elections and voter registrations offices. The county commissioners and county manager’s office will remain in the current building.
