Tucker tendered her resignation to the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners at their meeting Tuesday. It will become effective December 31.
The resignation follows a sentence of 10 years probation, $6,000 in restitution and $1,000 fine for her guilty plea of violation of public office. She will send a resignation letter to Governor Nathan Deal, a copy of which will be submitted to the county commissioners.
The commissioners unanimously accepted an agreement with Tucker which will release her from “any and all civil liability arising from or in any way connected” to her position as clerk of court. The agreement stated she is resigning voluntarily and will not return to the position even though the plea as a first time offender did not disqualify her for office.
After Tucker and four other current or former employees were indicted in July for misuse of funds and improper recording of paid traffic fines, Charles Sikes, a former Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent was appointed as interim clerk of courts.
