Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said Cpl Noel Brown, a 15 year veteran, and Cpl John Kearney, with the department for four years, were nominated by the fellow deputies and supervisors based on their exemplary duty, performance, positive attitude and motivation.
Cpl Brown, the certified law enforcement Deputy of the Year, served in the US Air Force in Operation Desert Storm before returning to Statesboro and working with the Georgia Southern University Police. He has served as a patrol supervisor and is currently assigned to the Court Services Division, Warrants/Civil Section at the Sheriff’s department. Brown is a member of the BCSO Honor Guard and is very involved in the activities of Safehaven.
Cpl John Kearney, the certified jail Deputy of the Year, currently serves as an assistant shift supervisor in the Jail Division. He is scheduled to attend Basic Law Enforcement Officer certification in 2014. He is the son of another Cpl Kearney, Cpl Mike Kearney of the Court Services Division, Transport Section.
As Deputy of the Year, each is entitled to have his name and photo placed on a plaque in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office as well as being awarded the Meritorious Service Ribbon and receiving two days leave.
