Sheriff warns of scam

Written by  Wednesday, 13 November 2013 09:47

Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson is advising everyone to be wary of a scam.  Anderson said his office has received several reports from people who say they have been contacted by persons speaking with a foreign accent and claiming to be representatives of various federal agencies. The callers attempt to obtain personal information and banking information, allegedly so that they can reissue a Medicaid card, Social Security Card, etc. Anderson said "Of course this is a scam.  Do not provide anyone with personal information over the phone."

Anyone who has been taken in by the scam and has provided such information to a caller, contact your bank or financial institution immediately.  You may also want to file a report with the law enforcement agency which works your neighborhood.
