The GBI has taken over the investigation of a shooting this morning in Statesboro. A Statesboro police officer was at a home at 315 Rackley Street on a code enforcement issue when shots were fired and the suspect was killed. This all happened just after 9:00 o'clock Monday morning, at 12:30 in the afternoon the body of the dead man remained on the porch of a rundown white house across from the railroad tracks.
Statesboro police identify the man as 61 year old George Pryor who lived in the house.
At a news conference Monday morning spokesperson Justin Samples said "The Statesboro Police Department would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family of George Pryor. This was an unfortunate incident, and we extend our condolences to them."
