S.T.O.P. (Solicitor, Teen, Officer, Parent) is a completely volunteer program. In phase one, parents and legal guardians of drivers under the age of 21 sign up and get a free S.T.O.P. decal to be applied to the rear windshield of any vehicle the teen may drive. If the driver is stopped the parents or legal guardians will be notified within 72 hours of the date, time, location, the number of people in the car and if a citation or warning is issued.
In phase two a teen driving class will be available.
Director of Public Safety Wendell Turner said the program is voluntary and free of charge.
