The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office says they have charged two individuals with bigamy.
Investigators say they were contacted on Sept. 28 by the Bulloch County Probate Court regarding an individual who had apparently sworn falsely on his application to obtain a marriage license.
Eli Porter, 26, of Port Wentworth, has sworn that he had not been previously married. Probate Court personnel later discovered that Porter was in fact still married to his first wife.
The Probate Court then contacted Porter and ordered him to return the marriage license which he did. However, the license had already been signed by a minister indicating that Porter had married Shanice Brown anyway.
BCSO investigators charged Porter with one count of false swearing and one count of bigamy after further investigation.
Shanice Brown, 24, also of Port Wentworth, was charged with one count of marrying a bigamist. Each of these charges is a felony.
Both Porter and Brown posted bond and were released.
