A large pecan tree fell across power lines which resulted in five power poles being snapped which knocked out power. Statesboro Police closed Lanier Drive between Robin Hood Trail and Chandler Road.
Excelsior Electric Membership Corporation Greg Proctor said of their 1,623 customer affected by the outage, power to more than 640 customers was restored by 7 p.m. Monday. The balance of their customers had their power restored by 9:20 Tuesday morning after crews worked throughout the night.
Georgia Power spokesman Mark Williams said the storm knocked out power for more than 3,500 of their customers but nearly all of them had the power restored Monday night.
No other damage other than the broken power poles was reported from the storm.
