This past February 7th twenty year old Caleb Jamaal Clemmons post a Tumblr under the moniker “irenigg” threatening to shoot up the campus. In his blog he wrote "hello. my name is irenigg and i plan on shooting up georgia southern. pass this around to see the affect it has. to see if i get arrested."
It didn't take long. Just three hours after making the post Clemmons was arrested after police received an anonymous email about the post. He was charged with making terroristic threats and is being held in the Bulloch County jail pending a $20,000 bond.
Police searched his apartment but did not find any weapons or anything else indicating Clemmons was actually planning such an attack.
Clemmons, a psychology major, reportedly told Georgia Southern Police Chief Mike Russell the blog was joke just to see how quickly he would be arrested.
Andrea Morris, his mother, said in an internet post, Caleb may have chosen the wrong time to post a prank and needs another chance to make things right. A petition on change.org for his release has gotten nearly 4,000 signatures so far.
A hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, during which a trail date may be set. If convicted Clemmons could be sentenced to five years in prison or a $1,000 fine.
