Jan MooreJan Moore  Last week Statesboro Mayor Joe Brannen said he has not decided if he will run for a second term.

Jan Moore has announced she will be a candidate for the position.  Moore is business editor for the Statesboro Herald and a psychologist for the Bulloch County School System.

The 51 year old Statesboro native last week said she feels she will have to time to devote to public service now that her youngest child is a senior at Statesboro High School.

Moore said she sees the community as a regional hub for education, health care and shopping and she wants to be a part of the growth that will come with it.

In addition to the mayoral race two seats on the Statesboro City Council will also be up for election.  Both District 1 councilman Phil Boyum and District 4 councilman John Riggs announced last week they will run for another term.

Qualifying for both council seats and the mayor’s position will be from August 26 to the 30th.
