Arrest made in homicide investigation

  The Statesboro Police Department has made an arrest in a homicide that occurred Sunday at a residence on Greenbriar Trail in Statesboro.

  Wendell Turner, Director of Public Safety, said Detective Kevin Wadley arrested 48 year old Antoinette Brady Riley for the murder of her husband, 51 year old Michael Anthony Riley.  She was taken into custody around 4:00 pm Monday. 


  The investigation began Sunday when a 911 call was made at shortly before 7 a.m. by  Antoinette Riley who said that her husband, Michael Riley, had been shot.  Statesboro Police Officers arrived on the scene and found Mr. Riley was deceased. Officers immediately secured the scene and began identifying and interviewing witnesses and neighbors.  The crime scene is still being held for investigation.


  Riley’s body was transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab in Savannah where an autopsy was performed.  Police are awaiting the results of that autopsy.


  Antoinette Riley was transported to Bulloch County Jail to await further court proceedings.  She was charged with felony murder.  Investigation into the death is continuing by the Police Department.
