Former Statesboro Police Chief Stan York was recently hired as Director of Safety and Security for Ogeechee Technical College. York has been in Law Enforcement for the past 38 years and started his career in his hometown of Tifton, Georgia. He later moved to Statesboro, where he was with the Statesboro Police Department (SPD) for 34 years. He retired June 21, 2010, after serving the previous 8 ½ years as the Chief of Police.
Even after leaving Statesboro York continued to work in law enforcement serving as Director of Police Services for the Sandersville Police Department from August of 2010 until August of 2012.
York’s experience includes administrative oversight, mentoring the department’s executive staff, providing guidance and direction in “Modern Police Concepts”, and “Best Practices” in law enforcement.
He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and the Columbus State University Command College in Columbus, Georgia. He served as President of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police in 2011-2012.
York is married to Kathryn Smith York and has one daughter, Jordana L. York Childree.
